Shingle vs. Tile vs. Metal: Which Roof Is Best in Orlando?

By Daniel Reyes ·

Tile rooftops of residential homes in the sun

The short answer

Architectural shingles are the most affordable and the most common. Tile lasts longest and suits Mediterranean-style homes. Metal costs more up front but reflects heat and handles high winds best.

Cost and lifespan

As a general range, shingle roofs last 15–25 years, metal 40–60 years, and tile 40+ years (with underlayment replaced around year 20–25). Your home’s size, pitch and HOA rules will narrow the choice.
